Two report cards that look the same

Two children can bring home the same marks and need completely different help. A grade doesn’t tell you why.

The same mark, different stories

One child gets a B because they understand everything but rush and make careless errors. Another gets a B because they’ve memorized procedures without understanding them, and the next unit will be much harder. The report cards look the same. (An illustrative example, not two real students.)

What a grade can’t show

A grade averages many things together. It doesn’t show which skills are secure, which are shaky and which were never learned. It can’t tell you whether your child will be ready for next year.

A grade is an average; it hides the detail.

The short version

What helps more

Skill-by-skill information: what your child has mastered, what is in progress, what comes next. That’s what our progress updates are for, in plain words, so you never have to guess.

What you’ll take away

  1. 01A grade is an average; it hides the detail.
  2. 02The same mark can mean very different needs.
  3. 03Ask which skills are secure, not just what the grade is.

Every child deserves to be known. Let’s start with yours.
