Careers
Hikmah mentors spend their time with children, not paperwork. No roles are open yet: register your interest and we’ll write when hiring begins for our first centre in Ottawa.
Why mentor here
You guide a steady group of learners and come to know each one: how they think, where they shine, where they got stuck. You ask more than you lecture.
The same learners over time, so you notice small changes and act early.
Trace a missed question to the skill behind it, reteach it and check again.
Lead projects, discussion and coaching that build judgement and character.
The platform drafts plans and marks routine work. You decide what each child needs next.

A mentor’s afternoon
Choose a moment to see the work, and what the platform takes off your plate.

Your plan is drafted from last week’s work. You adjust it and add a question for Grace.
3:30
Learners arrive from school: a warm-up on the board and a minute with each child.
3:45
Jonah’s fraction misses trace back to equivalent fractions. You reteach them with paper strips; he tries a fresh check.
4:15
Four learners share one gap. You teach them together, then each returns to their own practice.
4:45
Zoe’s group is designing a safer school crossing. Your question sends them back to check their counts.
5:45
Aiden’s progress update is drafted from his work. You rewrite the part only you could say.
Illustrative example. The times are not a timetable.
What mentors get
Planning, routine marking and records are handled; your hours go to children.
The same learners over time, so you see growth others miss.
Leaders clear the way, and every platform suggestion is yours to accept or ignore.
Training before your first learner, then regular coaching; we intend to support further study.
Good teaching needs rested people: sustainable workloads and real time off.
Pay stated clearly in each posting. Founding mentors shape programs and train those who follow.
The founding team
The founding team shapes the method, the routines and the standards, and trains everyone who joins later.
No roles are open yet. Each posting will set out pay, benefits, dates and the full requirements. French is an asset in every role.
One of our first mentors: a steady group of learners you come to know well, and a platform that handles planning and marking.
You’ll teach the skills under everything else, from decoding and fluency to close reading and argument.
The heart of why Hikmah exists: logic, ethics, public speaking and real projects. You’ll design the program with the founder.
You’ll turn a plan into a place: hire and lead the mentors, set the daily rhythm and make every family feel known.
You’ll welcome families from their first question onward, and make sure parents always know what’s next.
Build the platform that lets one mentor know many children well, with children’s privacy designed in from the first line of code.
How hiring works
Every mentor is chosen against the same standard. Each posting will confirm the details, and we’ll tell you where you stand at every step.
Register interest here. We screen every application against our mentor standard.
Your experience, what draws you to Hikmah, and your questions for us.
A demonstration built around a real learner’s mistake: find the root, then help.
A short check of your own command of the subject you would teach.
References, and a police vulnerable sector check before you start.
The method, the platform, safeguarding and privacy, then time beside an experienced mentor, before your first learner.
