Why talk about ethics at home
Children face real moral questions every day: whether to tell on a friend, how to share, what’s fair. Talking about them at home, without a lecture, helps them think before they act.
Questions for every age
For younger children: is it ever okay to break a promise? Should you always tell the truth, even if it hurts someone? For older ones: should you follow a rule you think is unfair? What do we owe people we’ll never meet?
Children face real moral questions every day.
How to keep it open
Ask, then listen. Share your view as one view, with your reasons. Let your child disagree. The aim is to practise thinking carefully about what is right, not to arrive at the correct answer.
